Two months ago the German website for Volvo slipped and accidentally released a partial image of the new 2018 Volvo XC40. This time, thanks to another leak, we have a full look of the entire vehicle. It’s nice, and it stuck incredibly close to the concept. The new small SUV was initially only shown in a teaser trailer, which obscured the car more, but surprisingly, the full uncut version was posted online as well.
The car looks a lot like the 40 Concept released more than a year ago. Volvo said it wanted to deliver a more “youthful” spirit to the car, based off its Compact Modular Architecture. It definitely has a lively appeal to it. The interior looks sleek and clean, with a digital instrument cluster and center console and what appears to be a wireless charging slot. There’s enough room in the trunk to hang your hard hat and transport a couple overnight bags or some groceries.
The likely engine portfolio would consist of the new three-cylinder, 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with or without hybrid assistance, and with four-cylinder engines falling in the middle. Expect a full electric version to be in the works, too.
